Plot
From what Ricky can remember, he has always wanted to play baseball at the major league level. Ricky remains steadfast in his faith and self-confidence despite the physical limitations that hinder him from running and moving like his friends. He moves forward with the help of leg braces. His brother Robert is an unwavering rock for Ricky on this trip; every time Ricky overcomes the odds and hits the ball further than anybody could have imagined, Robert’s delight knows no bounds.
As a local church pastor, Ricky’s father is having difficulty making ends meet, adding to their less-than-ideal financial situation. Pastor Hill first frowns upon Ricky’s ambitions and thinks a weak body can’t win against a passionately determined soul. He suggests Ricky give up on his ambition and think about becoming a pastor instead. But Ricky doesn’t give up on his dream and moves forward.

The film first debuted on Netflix in January after its theatrical release, and now, on February 6, 2024, it is prepared to launch on Amazon Prime Video.

Written by Angelo Pizzo and Scott Marshall Smith, the film boldly depicts Hill’s hardships, including bullying and poverty, throughout his childhood.
