The Night Manager: Actor Aditya Roy Kapur receives mixed reactions from people for his OTT debut

In an interview, the actor discussed his determination to make an impression with his OTT debut and how many around him had conflicting thoughts about it.

New Delhi: The Night Manager, directed by Aditya Roy Kapur and starring Anil Kapoor and Sobhita Dhulipala, has opened to critical acclaim. Aditya’s debut in the OTT market comes after appearing in films such as Aashiqui 2, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, and Fitoor, to name a few. With his previous film, Rashtrakavach Om, failing to draw a large audience, it was a great duty for the actor to do credit to the Indian adaptation of the Emmy-winning show.

In an interview, the actor discussed his determination to make an impression with his OTT debut and how many around him had conflicting thoughts about it. “Some people said, Don’t do it, yaar,” he recalled. “How did you get involved in all of this?” Others believe this is the future.

But he cleared his mind. He wasn’t convinced by the initial opinion. He didn’t believe that the jury is still out on whether the OTT platform will be detrimental to actors. Also, a large number of people are doing it. He really wanted to be a part of this tale. In addition, he often wondered what it might be like to experiment with long-form narratives. So he told himself not to overthink the situation.

When questioned if he experienced the pressure when essaying Tom Hiddleston’s role in the show, Aditya Roy Kapur responded, “As actors, we have quite enough stress. Going before a crowd of 250 people and displaying your emotions is quite difficult. As a result, it is preferable to keep things as light as possible.”
