Plot
En’s latest nightmare jolts her awake in the predawn darkness: she sees a mangled car on a narrow mountain road, hears metal twisting, and feels the crushing terror of losing her parents and little brother. She can still smell gasoline and taste dust when she switches on the bedside lamp. It was only a dream, she reminds herself—yet the dread clings to her like a second skin.
In three days, her family is scheduled to drive up to a secluded summer resort nestled deep in the mountains—precisely the setting of her recurring dream. Desperate to keep the nightmare from becoming reality, En pleads with her father, Kosuke, to cancel or at least postpone the trip. Kosuke, practical to a fault, dismisses her fears as anxiety brought on by pressure at school. “We all need this vacation,” he insists, promising that the mountain roads are perfectly safe in the summer.
Still shaken, En heads downstairs to collect the mail. In the lobby she meets Mrs. Takada, an elderly neighbor known for following local news obsessively. During small talk, En mentions a strange sense of déjà‑vu about a recent accident in the mountains. Mrs. Takada’s eyes widen; she quietly reveals that a fatal crash—matching En’s nightmare in every detail—was reported on the radio that very morning. The wreck occurred on the same stretch of road her family plans to take.
The revelation sends a chill through En. Now armed with chilling confirmation that her nightmare mirrored reality, she must convince her family to heed the warning before they set out on a trip that may already be cursed.
