Ticket Sales on Day 1: Pathaan pips Hindi blockbusters, races behind just 2 South films

Yash’s KGF Chapter 2 is a mile ahead of Shahrukh and Deepika’s Pathaan with a whopping 5. 15 Lakh tickets sold for the first day. Furthermore, SS Rajamouli’s Bahubali 2 is gripping the crown right now with 6.50 opening day ticket sales.

New Delhi: Not even released yet, Pathaan is breaking and setting many new records. Shahrukh Khan’s comeback movie is making the right noise and anticipating huge success at the box office.

The year 2021-2022 proved to be a dry spell for Bollywood. Now, Pathaan is expected to headstart Bollywood’s revival at the beginning of 2023.

Still a few hours in its grand premiere, Pathaan has made a new record with its day 1 ticket sales of advance bookings. Pathaan has surpassed previous topper War with 4.9 Lakhs opening day ticket sales.

Well, yes. Pathaan is now the top most Bollywood movie in terms of opening-day sales. Earlier, the record was held by War, which was also directed by Siddharth Anand, with 4 Lakh ticket sales.

However, Pathaan is yet to topple South Indian Cinema giants KGF 2 and Bahubali 2.

Among Bollywood movies, the third spot is held by Amir Khan’s Thugs of Hindustan with 3.46 Lakh ticket sales.

Thugs of Hindustan being on this list tells us that opening day sales aren’t good criteria to measure a movie’s success. Promotional hype can bring crowds in huge numbers to the theatres on the premiere day, but if the movie is not good the sales began to dip strikingly afterward.

It remains to be seen if Pathaan would be able to live up to the enormous expectations of the fans. As of now, Siddharth Anand’s action flick is all set to spearhead in the theaters, given the mega boost supported by sky-ripping advance sales, domestic and international.
