Toxic Town is a four-part British drama miniseries based on the true story of the Corby poisonings, one of the UK’s most devastating environmental scandals.

Set in the town of Corby, Northamptonshire, the series unravels a decades-long struggle for justice, following the courageous fight of a group of mothers who uncover the horrifying truth.

To “revitalize” the area, local authorities undertook a massive demolition and redevelopment project. They attempted to decontaminate the steelworks’ remains and turn Corby into a modern town.

However, rather than safely disposing of the steelworks’ toxic waste, officials cut corners. Hazardous materials, including arsenic, lead, and dioxins, were carelessly transported and dumped around the town between 1984 and 1999, exposing residents to airborne toxic dust.

Years later, a disturbing pattern emerged. a significant number of children born in Corby suffered from severe birth defects. Many involve limb abnormalities, missing fingers, shortened or malformed arms, and other serious conditions.

At first, these cases were dismissed as medical anomalies.
