The first film that Mouly Surya directed in English is Trigger Warning. She became the first female filmmaker to win the Citra Award at the Indonesian Film Festival, which was co-hosted by the Indonesian Film Board and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology. Her films Fiksi and Marlina the Murderer in Four Acts were nominated for Best Direction.
