Urfi Javed receives death threat over dressing sense, calls it ‘regular day’

Urfi shared a screenshot of an alarming email that warned her to halt what the sender deemed as “polluting Indians” through her public appearances or else face dire consequences.

New Delhi: Popular actress and social media influencer Urfi Javed, known for her unapologetic fashion choices, has once again faced the dark side of online interactions as she received a death threat for her attire. Sharing her unsettling experience, Urfi revealed that this is not the first time she has encountered such threats.

On Wednesday, she shared a screenshot of an alarming email that warned her to halt what the sender deemed as “polluting Indians” through her public appearances or else face dire consequences.

The email, penned by an individual identified as Pramod Singh, bore the subject line, “Bahut jaldi tere ko goli maar di jayegi” (You will be shot very soon). In the message, written in Hindi, the sender expressed a threat to eliminate Urfi for spreading what they referred to as “dirt” in India. Sharing the screenshot, Urfi added the caption, “Regular day in my life.”

Urfi’s post drew an outpouring of support from netizens who condemned the threat. Many encouraged her to take legal action against such intimidation, while others praised her for her courage and resilience in the face of adversity.

This incident is not the first instance of Urfi encountering such a threat. In December of the previous year, she had disclosed that a former broker from three years ago had similarly threatened her. She had shared her experience on Instagram stories, shedding light on the broader issue of such threats that women often face in the digital realm.

Urfi’s post resonated with many as it highlighted the broader problem of online harassment, demonstrating the potential consequences of unchecked behavior. Urfi emphasized that such threats aimed at controlling her choices could easily extend to other women as well.

In her career, Urfi has gained prominence through her appearances on reality shows such as Bigg Boss OTT and Splitsvilla 14. Her latest cameo was in the second season of Bigg Boss OTT. However, beyond her television journey, Urfi’s experience underscores the challenges that individuals, particularly women, face in an era of heightened online interactions.

While Urfi’s defiance in the face of such threats is commendable, this incident also serves as a reminder of the ongoing conversation around online safety and the need for collective efforts to combat digital harassment.
