New Delhi: Filmmaker Vetrimaaran has power-packed projects lined up and there were rumours about his collaboration with Dhanush for ‘Vada Chennai 2’ being cancelled. The Tamil director issued a clarification and said that the film has not been cancelled, he will work on ‘Vada Chennai 2’ after two of his projects are completed.
At the ‘Rudhran’ audio launch event, the filmmaker said that ‘Vada Chennai 2’ will happen after the release of ‘Viduthalai: Part 2’ and ‘Vaadivaasal’ starring Suriya. He added that the project has not been dropped and will ‘definitely happen’.

His film ‘Viduthalai: Part 1’ was recently released and is running well in the cinemas. Starring Vijay Sethupathi, the film revolves around the themes of police brutality in the backdrop of separatism. The film grossed about Rs 20 crore in the opening weekend in Tamil Nadu and his fans are excited about the sequel.
‘Vada Chennai 2’ will mark the third collaboration between Vetrimaaran and Dhanush as they worked together in superhit political dramas ‘Asuran’ and ‘Vada Chennai’. The 2018 film revolved around a young carrom player, played by Dhanush, in north Chennai in the backdrop of local politics and a war between two gangsters. The film also starred Andrea Jeremiah, Kishore and Aishwarya Rajesh.
The plot and the cast of the ‘Vada Chennai 2’ are not known yet, but it is clear that Dhanush will be leading the film and might return to his role of the carrom player Anbu.
Vetrimaaran’s upcoming film ‘Vaadivaasal’ revolves around the bull-capturing fest called Jallikattu. The film stars Suriya and Andrea Jeremiah in the lead and is produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu.
