During the fest’s third and concluding day, a group of young girls, all dressed in burqa, were seen doing a catwalk on the stage and the footage of the same went viral on the internet

New Delhi: A group of girls from Muzaffarnagar’s reputable college triggered the religious sentiments of many by doing a catwalk dressed in burqa at a recently organized fashion event.

As the video of their controversial burqa catwalk emerged on the internet, it received outrage from Jamat-e-Ulema which has now warned the collegees from indulging in any such Western activities.

The Jamat’s district convener, Maulana Mikarram Qasmi released his statement about the incident in which he highlighted that a burqa should never be part of a fashion show as doing so will hurt the religious sentiments of all the practicing Muslims of the country and worldwide.

He further requested the college authorities to refrain from hosting or organizing such events and said that the Jamat would take necessary legal action against those who ignore his appeal.

Concluding his words, Maulana even threatened that he wouldn’t hesitate to approach the High Courts and Supreme Court if his appeal is taken lightly by the college authorities.

She further revealed that their motive was to prove that against all the social stigma, a girl with a burqa can also participate in a fashion event.

One of the teachers of the girls Manoj also broke his silence and said that their intention was to send a message to those people of society who believe that Muslim women should not come forward and do something for themselves.
