Vivek Agnihotri supports WGA strike in Hollywood, Gulshan Devaiah asks him to begin change at home

He posted a tweet in favour of the strike, sharing a few pictures of the protest with a message about the condition of writers in Bollywood.

New Delhi: Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri, who is known for sharing his views on Twitter, came in support of the screenwriters’ strike in Hollywood. He posted a tweet in favour of the strike, sharing a few pictures of the protest with a message about the condition of writers in Bollywood. Actor Gulshan Devaiah slammed him and asked him to start the change at home.

Sharing the tweet, Vivek Agnihotri asked if a Bollywood director or star mentions the names of their writers. Pointing out the ‘sad story’ he asked his followers if they know the names of hit films like ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Bhul Bhulaiyaa 2’.

Replying to his tweet, Gulshan wrote that he does not remember seeing him touring with his writers and research team for the film promotions. While he asked him to ‘ start the change at home’, the actor added that he does not hate him and called himself an ‘idiot’.

Another Twitter user pointed out that Vivek hit film ‘The Kashmir Files’ did not have the name of writer Saurabh Pandey on the poster and no one knows him.

Members of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) began the strike last week, complaining that they are not paid fairly in the era of OTT and streaming. They claim that the studios are looking at writing as a freelance activity rather than a profession. The Alliance of Motion Pictures and Television Producers (AMPTP) is not ready to meet the demands of the writers.

On the work front, Vivek Agnihotri’s upcoming film ‘The Vaccine War’ will release on August 15. The film follows the journey of creating the COVID-19 vaccine in India.

Gulshan Devaiah was seen in the recently released Prime Video show ‘Dahaad’ starring Sonakshi Sinha, Vijay Varma, and Sohum Shah. He will next be seen in ‘8 A.M. Metro’ opposite Saiyami Kher and Raj & DK’s web show ‘Guns & Gulaabs’ alongside Rajkummar Rao and Dulquer Salman.
