‘Wanted to work with Vijay…’: Rashmika Mandanna opens up about taking ‘Varisu’ despite small role in film

She accepted that she did not have much to do except for the two songs in the film, but she did not want to be ‘typecasted’.

New Delhi: Rashmika Mandanna, who starred in ‘Mission Majnu’, in an interview, opened up about being a part of Thalapathy Vijay’s Tamil mass entertainer ‘Varisu’. In the interview with Film Companion, the actor told the reason behind making the ‘conscious choice’ of taking up ‘Varisu’. She accepted that she did not have much to do except for the two songs in the film, but she did not want to be ‘typecasted’.

Rashmika said that the film was her choice and knew that she did not have much to do except for the songs. She also told that it was her inside joke with Vijay where she used to say, “I have nothing to do except two songs.” Talking about the reason for doing ‘Varisu’, she said that it was a ‘conscious decision’ to work with Vijay as she had admired him for a long time.

Talking about being typecast, the actor said that she does not want to limit herself to films about female characters, she also wants to be a part of the commercial entertainers.

Rashmika was part of two songs, ‘Jimikki Ponnu’ and ‘Ranjithame’ in the Tamil film. The film is still running well in cinemas as Vijay fans are enjoying him on the big screen.

‘Mission Majnu’ starring Siddharth Malhotra and Rashmika was released on Netflix on January 20. The film follows an Indian spy in Pakistan and offers a thrilling spy-action drama with some romance. Rashmika Mandanna will also be seen in ‘Pushpa: The Rule’ and is likely to begin the shoot soon.
