Was Ranbir Kapoor-Rishi Kapoor’s relationship similar to Animal’s Ranvijay Singh-Balbir Singh relationship?

Before the release of “Animal” Ranbir himself admitted that there are certain moments and incidents with his father which acted as reference for the film

New Delhi: With “Animal” making new records every day people are talking more and more about the intimate scene of Ranbir and Tripti Dimri and seem to have forgotten the real story which is about a father-son’s complex relationship.

Animal

Wealthy father Balbir Singh has no time for his son Ranvijay, which eventually turns Ranvijay into an “Animal”.While a large section of the audience was not able to relate with the obsession of son Ranvijay, Balbir Singh’s strict father character was quite relatable for the Indian audience.

Similarly, Ranbir Kapoor might have also found some similarity between Balbir Singh and his father Rishi Kapoor who had openly admitted in his book that “Ranbir and I can’t feel each other.”

In 2017, Rishi Kapoor released his book “Khullam Khula”: Rishi Kapoor Uncensored, filled with unheard stories both from his personal and professional life.

In the book, Rishi Kapoor had candidly written about his relationship with his son Ranbir Kapoor. He regretted that “I could never become true friends with Ranbir”. Elaborating on it Rishi Kapoor recalled his relationship with his father Raj Kapoor and wrote “The distance that exists between us is similar to the one between my father and me. Ranbir and I can’t feel each other. At least I can’t.”

Lamenting on it he wrote “There are times when I feel I have missed out on being a friend to my son. I was a strict father because I was brought up to believe that a father should be strict.” He further added that “Ranbir is close to Neetu Kapoor and she is his real friend.”

Ranbir Kapoor also admitted once in an interview that Rishi Kapoor is a strict father and he can’t crack jokes when Rishi Kapoor is around.”
