New Delhi: Bhartiya Janta Party candidate Dinesh Lal Yadav aka Nirahua won the Lok Sabha by-poll election from Azamgarh on Sunday. Nirahua bagged the seat by defeating Samajwadi Party’s Dharmendra Yadav on the bastion of the opposition candidate.
In the 2019 General Elections, Nirahua lost the seat against Akhilesh Yadav. However, BJP illustrated faith in the Bhojpuri actor keeping in mind the crucial OBC votes.
Who is Dinesh Lal Yadav aka Nirahua?
Dinesh Lal Yadav Nirhua was born in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur on 2 February 1979. He comes from a humble background and his father used to work in Kolkata with a monthly salary of Rs 3,500.
He completed his education while living in the suburbs of Kolkata. In the Bhojpuri industry he started his career as a Biraha singer and made his debut as a singer in the music album Nirahua Satal rahe, which was released in 2004.
The song earned him the screen name of ”Nirahua”.
In the Bhojpuri film industry, he made his debut with a filmy drama ‘Humka Aisa Waisa Na Samjha.
However, he earned fame in the film industry with the release of ‘Nirahuwa Rikshaw Wala in the year 2008.
He was also a Bigg Boss 6 candidate in 2012. In the same year, he worked with Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan in the film, Ganga Devi.
On the personal front, he married to Mansa Devi in 2000 and both has three children.
Nirahua’s political career
The Bhojpuri star joined politics by becoming a member of the BJP. He formally joined the politics on March 27 in 2019 in Lucknow. In 2019 Lok Sabha election, he lost the Azamgarh seat to SP chief Akhilesh Yadav by a a margin of 2,59,874 votes.
Notably, he was once hounoured with the ‘Yash Bharti’ Award by the Akhilesh Yadav government.
