New Delhi: Leaving her friends, family & fans in a sheer state of sorrow, Miss India Tripura 2017 Rinkey Chakma succumbed to her cancer and died at the age of 28 last Wednesday,
Rinkey’s tragic demise came after her 2 year-long painful battle with cancer that got worse with time and kept on deteriorating the former beauty queen’s health with each passing day.
Despite Chakma undergoing surgery and receiving Chemotherapy, her breast cancer kept on getting extremely severe, and eventually in February 2024, it metastasized in her lungs and head, leaving the model with a fatal malignant phyllodes tumor & non-functioning lungs.
In a desperate attempt to save her life, the beauty pageant winner was then reportedly admitted to the ICU MAX Hospital where she stayed on a ventilator for a few days. However, her health condition continued to decline and she finally died after breathing her last on 28 February 2024.
Femina Miss India extends condolences
Breaking the heartwrenching news of Rinkey’s untimely demise, Femina Miss India dropped an official statement through their official social media handle and extended their condolences to her family and friends.
Describing the beauty queen as a remarkable woman, Femina Miss India penned, “With profound sadness, we share the news of the passing of Rinky Chakma, Femina Miss India Tripura 2017. A remarkable woman, Rinky was truly a force to be reckoned with, embodying grace and purpose.”

Who was Rinkey Chakma ?
Born in the family of an Army officer in Agartala, Tripura 1991, Rinki Chakma was brought up in the small rural town of Chalengata (Tripura). Since her childhood days, Rinky was an ambitious girl who not only excelled in academics but also always remained ahead in various activities like dancing, singing, and painting. drawing.
After finishing her school-level education at Eklavya Model Residential School, she went to Tripura Government Law College and graduated with honors from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) after earning a Sociology degree. Besides her studies, Chamika also remained active in extracurricular activities and participated in numerous social and cultural activities throughout her days as a university student.
Rinkey Chakma’s modelling career
Rinki Chamika entered the glamorous world of modeling around 9 years back in 2015 when she took part in the Sunsilk Mega Miss North East pageant and secured the 2nd position in the beauty contest.
From there, the ambitious model never looked back and went on to win the Miss Photogenic award before finally representing Tripura in the prestigious Femina Miss India contest. In the beauty pageant, Rinki won each heart with her captivating persona and won two sub-titles. She also made it to the Top 15 finalists of the Miss India pageant in which she voiced for women’s rights, empowerment, and upliftment.
