With 50.6 million viewership hours, Gangubai Kathiawadi is the most-watched Indian film on Netflix, followed by RRR

New Delhi: RRR and Gangubai Kathiawadi were both huge box office hits. Gangubai has a global revenue of around Rs 200 crore, while RRR has a global revenue of around Rs 1,200 crore. Rajamouli’s film, starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR, has been a broadcasting success in the United States, with sales increasing by more than 50% in its second week.

After a debut week dominated largely by South Asian territories, RRR found a spot in the top 10 in 57 countries in its second week, causing tremors around the world. It’s worth noting that RRR is also accessible on ZEE5, with the Hindi version being the only one available on Netflix.

Mimi and Sooryavanshi, on the other hand, have spent the most weeks in the top ten (6), followed by Gangubai (5 each). Mimi has roughly 21.7 million total viewing hours, whereas Sooryavanshi has around 24.2 million total viewing hours. Last year, Haseen Dillruba spent four weeks in the top ten, accumulating 24.4 million hours seen, while Minnal Murali, a Malayalam superhero film, accumulated 24.8 million hours watched.

Dhamaaka, starring Kartik Aaryan, and Meenakshi Sundareshwar, starring Sanya Malhotra, both spent three weeks in the top ten, accumulating 11.3 million and 9.1 million hours watched, respectively. With the enormous success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 at the box office, Kartik has just emerged as a box office champ as well.

Kangana Ranaut’s newest film Dhaakad, like her big-budget biography Thalaivii, was a box office flop. The film didn’t fare much better on streaming, just making the top ten a couple of times for a total of 5.2 million viewing hours. However, it is also available on Amazon Prime Video.

With the exception of a few significant exceptions, Netflix rarely shared viewership data. After switching from ‘views’ to ‘hours viewed,’ it made its top 10 lists publicly available last year.
