New Delhi: The internet has been buzzing over a fan-made trailer for the 2016 smash film Moana. A fan-made trailer casts Dwayne Johnson as Maui and Zendaya as Moana. This is not the first time that fans have attempted to make a live-action adaptation of the Disney classic. Fans were caught off guard by the film’s offbeat casting. The fan-made Moana trailer has original voice acting in addition to music and sound effects lifted directly from the animated feature depicting wide open seas and the island of Motunui.

A few days ago, the YouTube channel Cinematic Pro Studio—famous for creating some of the finest reimagined trailers—dropped an unexpected buzz. The channel took bets on who would be the next Disney princess before the premiere of the new Moana Live-Action. Dwayne Johnson’s Maui narrates the opening scene, setting the stage for the epic journey that follows in the pursuit of Goddess Te Fiti. However, the video’s big reveal comes at the very end, when Zendaya’s cover as Moana came forward.

After seeing the video, many were quick to say that casting Zendaya as Moana would be a smart business move for Disney. The studio’s investment in The Rock’s casting in the original paid off, so having Zendaya in the live-action adaptation might hit the release. Recently, the video has gotten about 373 thousand views.

Disney Studios also issued a clear signal by committing to a certain release date for the film. The newest news from Disney is that the release date for the live-action feature will be June 27, 2025. Whoever is chosen in the lead part, and the rest of the movie’s supporting ensemble, will be fascinating to watch.
