12 Days of Visas: US Embassy aims to reduce waiting time for visas, dedicates day 9 to operational status

The US Embassy shared a video clip on social media which says that the United States has made hiring and training professionals working in the embassy in India their top priority.

New Delhi: The US Embassy in India is currently holding a program called ’12 Days of Visas’ where the embassy is trying to inform the nation’s citizens about US Visas and matters related to them. The embassy is also releasing interesting trivia to encourage people to apply for visas. December 21 marks day 9 of the campaign and is dedicated to the embassy’s operational status. The program began on December 13 and will go on till Christmas.

The US Embassy shared a video clip on social media which says that the United States has made hiring and training professionals working in the embassy in India their top priority. It also says that the embassy will be at 100% staffing by the summer of 2023, which will reduce the waiting time for the process regarding visas.

On the other hand, netizens raised questions regarding the F1 visa slots in the comment section of the shared video clip. Indian citizens asked about the intake of the F1 refusal slots and why there is a delay in the same. F1 visas are required by non-immigrant students and permit foreigners to study, academic or language training programs in the United States. If a student wants to study in an institution including, high school, college and private elementary school, a student needs an F visa.

The embassy is taking steps to reduce the waiting time for applications and other processes regarding visas. They also dedicated days 6 and 7 to B1/B2 interview waiver and reducing interview wait times respectively. The initiative is expected to bear fruits in the upcoming studying season.
