12 Days Of Visas: US Embassy dedicates day 3 of program to student visas

The video said that Indian students are the second largest group of international students in the USA and the number has gone up to 2,00,000.

New Delhi: The US Embassy in India began a program called ’12 Days of Visas’ where the embassy is informing Indian citizens about US Visas and giving out interesting trivia to encourage people to apply for the same. December 15 marked day 3 of the campaign which is dedicated to student visas. The campaign started on December 13 and will run till Christmas.

The US Embassy shared a video clip on social media which told the information about the number of student visa issuances in the country. The video said that Indian students are the second largest group of international students in the USA and the number has gone up to 2,00,000. The USA had a record number of student visa issuances for Indian students in the last two years.

An international student needs an F or an M visa to study in the USA. An M visa is required for studying at a vocational or a recognized nonacademic institution while for any other institution including, high school, college and private elementary school, one needs an F visa.

Meanwhile, netizens also raised questions regarding the F1 visa slots in the comment section. Indian citizens asked about students losing jobs due to their F1 visa being refused and when can they apply again.

The embassy celebrated day 1 for the H&L visas which deal with the hiring of foreign professionals in the country and day 2 was dedicated to the elimination of the backlog of C1/D air and sea crew member visas.
