12 Days of Visas: US Embassy seeks to increase student visa processing by 10% in upcoming season

The embassy is giving out interesting trivia to encourage people to apply for the same. December 20 marks day 8 of the campaign which is dedicated to student visa processing.

New Delhi: The US Embassy in India started a program called ’12 Days of Visas’ where the embassy is informing the nation’s citizens about US Visas. The embassy is giving out interesting trivia to encourage people to apply for the same. December 20 marks day 8 of the campaign which is dedicated to student visa processing. The campaign started on December 13 and will run till Christmas.

The US Embassy shared a video clip on social media which told the information about the number of student visa processing in the country. The clip said that students and alumni are at the core ties of their people. The embassy informed that one in four student visas worldwide were issued to Indian students last year. The USA is seeking to increase student visa processing by 10% in the upcoming student season.

Even day 3 of the program was also dedicated to student visas. The embassy informed that Indian students are the second largest in terms of international students in the USA and the number has gone up to 2,00,000.

An F or an M visa is needed by an international student to study in the USA. For studying at a vocational or a recognized nonacademic institution, a student required an M visa while for any other institution including, high school, college and private elementary school, a student needs an F visa.

Meanwhile, netizens raised questions regarding the F1 visa slots in the comment section of the post. Indian citizens asked about the intake of the F1 refusal slots and when can they apply again.
