30,000 kg of drugs to be burnt to ashes today, Amit Shah to attend event virtually

With the latest disposal of about 30,468.784 kg of drugs today, the total quantity will reach beyond 81,000 kg, thus surpassing the NCB’s own target of 75,000 crore.

New Delhi: More than 30,000 kg of drugs will be burnt today across 4 locations in the country today, in virtual presence of Home Minister Amit Shah.

Home Minister will be addressing a national conference on ‘Drug Trafficking and National Security’ in Chandigarh and coinciding with this, the incineration of over 30,000 kg drugs will be conducted by various Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) teams.

The huge stockpile of drugs will be burnt to ashes & disposed in 4 cities including Delhi, Guwahati, Chennai & Kolkata.

The move comes as part of Modi government’s ambitious drive to destroy 75,000 crore of narcotics to celebrate 75 years of India’s Independence.

Acting on the clarion call of PM Modi on ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, the NCB has pledged to destroy 75,000 kg of drugs to mark completion of 75 years of India’s Independence.

Drive began on June 1, Over 51,000 kg disposed of so far

The NCB’s mega campaign to destroy narcotics began from June 1 and till date about 51,217 kg of drugs have been disposed off. The drive to incinerate drugs took place in at least 11 states, said a press release.

With the latest disposal of about 30,468.784 kg of drugs today, the total quantity will reach beyond 81,000 kg, thus surpassing the NCB’s own target of 75,000 crore.

While the NCB sleuths undertake major drive to stamp out drugs, the event will be witnessed by Home Minister along with Chief Ministers who will be present to express solidarity with the same. This also shows Modi government’s unwavering resolve to free the country from the menace of drugs.
