After Pak journo’s explosive claim about Hamid Ansari, a rebuttal by Cong spokesperson & latter’s ex-OSD

New Delhi: Nusrat Mirza, a Pakistani columnist made an explosive claim in a recent interaction with fellow journo & YouTuber Shakil Chaudhary that he spied on India during his visits and passed on this information to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). He boasted on camera that he handed over information gathered during his visits between 2005-2011.

He visited many cities including Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Bengaluru & others, however it’s his 2010 visit that has kicked up a big row. He said that he was invited for a seminar on terrorism by the then Vice-President Hamid Ansari.

Hamid Ansari controversy -

Now, Congress spokesperson & former Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the then V-P Hamid Ansari, Gurdeep Singh Sappal has rebutted the charges and termed them as frivolous & politically motivated. Sappal served as advisor to Hamid Ansari during latter’s consecutive terms as V-P from 2007-2012 and 2012-2017.

In a series of tweets, Sappal said that Pakistani columnist never said on camera that he was invited by Hamid Ansari, though the latter was also present there.

Recalling the 2010 event, the Congress leader informs that the event was held under the name – International Conference of Jurists on International Terrorism and Human Rights on December 11, 2010 and it was the International Council of Jurists, All India Bar Association and Indian Council of jurists who organized the event.

Sappal says that the former Vice-President was neither the organizer nor had he invited anyone in the seminar.

He further slammed the attempt to create & spread false propaganda about Hamid Ansari to ‘malign his reputation’.
