After video leak case, Chandigarh University administration declares next two days as ‘non-teaching days’

The university administration released a statement stating that the next two days will be ‘non-teaching days’.

New Delhi: After the controversy over the alleged leak of private videos of Chandigarh University’s hostel girls, the university administration released a statement saying that the next two days will be ‘non-teaching days’. However, the administration did not specify any particular reason for the latest move. Issuing the order, Chandigarh University said the decision has been taken ”due to some unavoidable reasons”.

In the release, it has been mentioned that all the faculty and staff members of the Academic and Non-Academics Departments will be reporting in their respective departments.

The essential services will be available as usual.

Earlier in the day, it was reported several girls tried to commit suicide after their videos leaked. However, this claim was dismissed by Prof, Dr RS Bawa, the Pro-Chancellor of the University. He also urged students and their parents not to believe in any rumours.

”No student committed suicide. A preliminary probe reveals that the accused girl had sent her own pics/videos to her boyfriend. No other material was found. FIR filed. Police probing it. I appeal to students & parents not to believe in any rumours: Pro-Chancellor,”

On the other hand, hundreds of University students have been protesting outside Chandigarh University in Mohali demanding justice. Some students, who participated in the protest, said the police are trying to bury the matter. They also alleged that the University administration is not trying to hide the truth.

The video of the protest is also being widely shared on the Internet.
