Asia Cup 2022: Jadeja-Pandya partnership brings victory for India against Pakistan

New Delhi: India won the second match of the Asia Cup 2022 against Pakistan by 5 wickets on Sunday in Dubai. Notably, the partnership of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli gave a push to team India in the early overs. In the last over, Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya helped India to win the match. However, Jadeja lost his wicket to Pakistan’s Mohammad Nawaz after scoring 35 runs off 29 balls.

Hardik Pandya was declared the top performer for the second innings, who knock off 33 runs in deliveries. Playing his 100th T20 match, Kohli made a record of crossing over 300 boundaries. He smashed 35 runs off 34 balls for India. Dinesh Kartick was called after Jadeja lost his wicket to Mohammad Nawaj.

However, he got one ball to play as India reached the target of 148 runs.

Following the victory, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to congratulate the team on the win.

#TeamIndia put up a spectacular all-round performance in today’s #AsiaCup2022 match. The team has displayed superb skill and grit. Congratulations to them on the victory,” wrote PM Modi.

After winning the toss, India chose to bat first against Pakistan. Playing the first, Pakistan set the target of 147 runs. However, India managed to bundle out Pakistan within the target of 150 runs with the help of Bhuvneshwar who clinched 4 wickets, followed by Hardik Pandya (3) and Arshdeep Singh (2).

The next between Bangladesh and Afghanistan will be played at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in UAE. The first match between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan was played on August 27.
