New Delhi: In a shocking incident, a 28-year-old temple priest allegedly died by suicide, police said. The priest, identified as Ram Shankar Das, live streamed the suicide on his Facebook. He also alleged that he is taking the extreme step following harassment by police.
He was a priest at Narasimha temple.
A few days back, a case was registered against Ram Shankar Das by the police after a senior mahant Ram Sharan Das, of the temple went missing.
Senior mahant, Ram Sharan Das (80) is missing since January this year.
The body of priest Ram Shankar Das was found hanging in room on Monday afternoon.
Before taking the extreme step, Das alleged made serious allegations against the in-charge of Raiganj police outpost and a constable posted in his security in his facebook live.
Meanwhile, Station House Officer of Kotwali police station Manoj Sharma said that Priest Ram Shankar Das was addicted to drugs and he committed suicide under the influence of drugs. he said that alligations made against police is completely false.
The body od Ram Shankar Das was found after he did not show up in the temple for two days. Whne police opened the door of his room inside temple premises, it was found that he had hanged himsef.
According the prima facie, police said it seems its a case of suicide.
