Bar council chairman writes to CJI, seeks holiday for all courts on January 22

Earlier, Bar Council also asked judicial officers not to impose fine on any advocate missing the court date on January 22.

New Delhi: The chairman of the Bar Council of India, Manan Kumar Mishra, has written an application attributed to the Chief Justice of India, D.Y Chandrachud, with a formal request to announce a holiday in Supreme Court on January 22, on accounts of Ayodhya Ram Mandir inauguration ceremony.

Advocate Mishra, in his application mentioned the Ram Mandir inauguration as a matter of esteem significance of national and cultural importance for every citizen of the nation.

The chairman also mentioned the fact that it was the Supreme Court’s historic verdict on November 9, 2019, which led to this historical event taking place on January 22, set in motion, and as a result, all the judicial officers and advocates should be allowed official holiday on the day of Pran Pratishtha of the temple, which is to be led by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

There has been no official announcement made by the officials regarding the request, and the final outcome of the request is awaited at the moment.

Earlier, the Bar Council also requested the Judicial officers not to impose any fan on any advocate missing the allocated court date on January 22, as they might be celebrating the historical inauguration of the Ram Mandir inauguration, and they should not be punished for the same, as it is a matter of utmost significance for them also.
