Bengal polls: Domestic help Kalita Majhi urges PM Modi to campaign in her constituency, she is a BJP candidate (VIDEO)

Kalita Majhi, the BJP candidate for Aushgram constituency has sought leave for the households where she works as domestic help, so that she could concentrate on campaigning.

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has picked a couple of candidates from the disadvantaged and underprivileged class for the upcoming Bengal Assembly elections. Nomination of such candidates have become the talking point in poll-bound state.

Kalita Majhi, who works as a domestic help, was named BJP candidate from Aushgram constituency while Chandana Bauri, a daily wage worker, was chosen BJP nominee from Saltora Assembly seat.

Now, Kalita Majhi, the BJP candidate for Aushgram constituency has sought leave for the households where she works as domestic help, so that she could concentrate on campaigning.

Domestic help wants PM Modi to campaign in her constituency

Kalita Majhi, the 32-year old domestic help dreams to change Bengal for women. Making a fervent appeal to PM Modi, she also urged him to campaign for her in her constituency.


She added that if she wins, she will try her best to ensure that poor students get opportunity for education. “I understand the suffering of the poor”, she said.

Kalita Majhi comes from a poor family in East Burdwan district, she had to leave her studies even before completing her primary school. After marriage also, her economic situation has not seen much improvement, as her husband works as a plumber. As her husband’s income is not enough to meet the expenses of the family, 32 years old Kalita Majhi works as a domestic help in the area.

Majhi is an active member of the party, and had earlier contested the Panchayat elections.

About Chandana Bauri, who lives in mud house

Chandana Bauri (30)-BJP candidate for Saltora Assembly seat in West Bengal’s Bankura, is one of the poorest nominees in the poll race.

Chandana’s husband is a ‘mason’ who works as a daily wager earning about Rs 400 for a day’s work.

As election dates are coming closer, Chandana leaves her house in Kelai village in Gangajalghati block by 8 am every day for campaigning.

Since Chandana is a senior district BJP member, the ticket is like a like a blessing for the 30-year-old.
