New Delhi: Raising the demand to stop Azaan (Muslim prayers) from loudspeakers of mosques, right-wing groups, Bajarang Dal, and Sriram Sena said that loudspeakers should be banned otherwise they will play Bhajans as a protest. A day ago, Raj Thackeray had also said Muslim prayers should be shut down from loudspeakers. Notably, the new demand of right-wing groups came after the demand for banning halal meat in Karnataka.

Regarding the ban on loudspeakers in Mosques, a video of Rashtriya Hindu Sena chief Pramod Muthalik is being shared online. In the video messages, he backed Hindu organisations’ demand of prohibiting loudspeakers from mosques. He backed his demand with the order of the Supreme Court that says loudspeakers are a medium of noise pollution.
He also alleged that the relevant authorities are not responding to his petition in this regard.
He called for instructions from the government prohibiting the use of loudspeakers. The Apex court’s order says loudspeakers should not be allowed from 10 pm to 6 am every day, according to Muthalik.
Will play ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ outside mosques, says Raj Thackeray
The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader and Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray’s cousin, Raj Thackeray on April said Hanuman Chalisa will be played outside of mosques if the practice of reciting prayers on loudspeakers is not stopped. He also demanded that the Shiv Sena government should issue an order, putting an end to the practice.
He stated it while addressing a rally at Shivaji Park. ”I am not against prayers, there is a decision needed from the government on removing mosque loudspeakers.”
