Bhupendra Chaudhary appointed as Uttar Pradesh BJP President

The latter was called to Delhi all of a sudden and had to leave his Azamgarh-Mau tour midway on Wednesday evening

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) has appointed its senior leader Bhupendra Chaudhary as the state party president on Thursday. The latter was called to Delhi all of a sudden and had to leave his Azamgarh-Mau tour midway on Wednesday evening, wherein he met BJP National President JP Nadda.

Chaudhary was elected as a member of the UP Legislative Council in 2016, and is currently the Minister of Panchayati Raj in Yogi Adityanath’s government.

BJP’s move to appoint Choudhary is being seen as an attempt to woo the politically dominant Jat community in the state. Notably, the community played a major role in a year-long agitation in Delhi and other parts of the country against the three controversial agricultural laws of the central government.

Who is Bhupendra Chaudhary?

Chowdhary was born and brought up in Mahendra Sikanderpur village of Chajalat region in Moradabad district in a farmer family. His early education took place in the primary school of the village itself, after which he graduated from RN Inter College in Moradabad.

He became a member of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad during his student life and then joined BJP in the year 1991. The party appointed him as a member of the BJP’s district executive in 1993, and later he was made the regional minister of Moradabad in the year 2006.

Bhupendra Singh Choudhary was nominated as MLC from the party in 2016, and when BJP came to power in the state with a massive majority, he was made the President of Panchayati Raj and given the status of Minister of State.
