BJP legislature party elects Manik Saha as new CM of Tripura

In the latest development in Tripura, the BJP government announced that Manik Shah will be the new Chief Minister. 

New Delhi: In the latest development in Tripura, the BJP government announced that Manik Shah will be the new Chief Minister. The announcement came just few hours after Biplab Kumar Deb submitted his resignation to the governor of the state.

Shah is currently also serving as the State President of Tripura BJP. The 69-year-old leader is also a Rajya Sabha MP.

Congratulating Manik Shah for being elected as the legislature party leader, Deb tweeted, ”Congratulations and best wishes to Manik Shah for being elected as the Legislature party leader. I believe under PM Narendra Modi’s vision and leadership Tripura will prosper.”

After leaving the post, Biplab thanked the Central leadership and the people of Tripura for giving him the responsibility to serve Tripura as a Chief Minister.

Notably, Deb is the first CM of the state from the BJP. He took the oath of the CM post after the BJP came to power in the majority in 2018 here.

The BJP defeated the Communist Party of India and ended its 25-year rule in Tripura.
