New Delhi: In the latest development in the Kanpur violence case, a BJP youth wing leader Harshit Srivastav was arrested on Tuesday for posting inflammatory comments on social media.
In the case, police have also lodged an FIR at Colonelganj police station in Kanpur. Reportedly, Harshit uploaded the comment on Twitter.
Taking to the media, a police officer, ”He was trying to disturb the peace through his objectionable posts.”
On June 3, violence broke out near Pared in Kanpur after a few people tried to force shopkeepers to close shutters of shops after the BJP leader Nupur Sharma made a comment against the Prophet Muhammad.
Notably, it is the latest action against any BJP leader after the BJP Spokesperson Nupur Sharma was removed from the national spokesperson post of the party making a remark on Prophet Muhammad.
