Foreign food chains under fire: #BoycottKFC & #BoycottPizza Hut trends for anti-India rant

The hashtags Boycott KFC and Boycott Pizza Hut are trending on Twitter after both the food chain shared controversial posts on Kashmir on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day.

New Delhi: The hashtags Boycott KFC and Boycott Pizza Hut are trending on Twitter on Monday. Under the hashtag, Indian citizens are sharing the screenshots of both the fast-food chains’ controversial posts on Kashmir. The posts have been shared by the companies’ official social media accounts based in Pakistan.

In the post, one can see KFC is supporting Kashmir Solidarity Day and the freedom of Kashmiris from India. ”We stand together this Kashmir Solidarity Day, to realize their right to freedom,” read the caption written by KFC.

The company also shared a poster depicting the western Himalayas. The poster added, ”Their cravings for freedom are heartfelt.”

Seeing the hashtag trending on Twitter, KFC released an apology statement.

It said, ”We deeply apologize for a post that was published on some KC social media channels outside the country.”

On the other hand, Pizza Hut also backed Kashmir Solidarity Day. The company said that it is with the Kashmiri brothers and sisters to get freedom.

Similar to the KFC, Pizza Hut also shared a message with its poster. Celebrating Kashmir Solidarity Day it wrote, ‘’We Stand With You!’’
