Brave mother fights off tiger with bare hands to save 15-month-old son

The claws stabbed into her lungs, which caused her lungs to puncture but this did not stop her from saving her child.

New Delhi: On September 4, Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve witnessed a shocking incident of bravery. An unarmed mother fought off a tiger to snatch her infant child from the jaws of death. The claws stabbed into her lungs, which caused her lungs to puncture but this did not stop her from saving her child.

Both, the mother and the child, were severely injured and taken to the hospital. The mother, Archana Choudhary, reportedly had punctured lungs and wounds on her abdomen while the 15-month-old infant had deep wounds on head. The mother is reportedly in stable condition. When she was admitted into the hospital, the doctors were worried about her situation, but then were able to get her into a stable condition the next day.

The mother took her son out of her hut when a tiger pounced from the bushes and attacked the child. It attacked the baby’s head and tried to get the claws to the infant’s neck when the mother showed some bravery and clashed with the animal for her child’s life. The tussle went on for a couple of minutes while she stood and tried to punch the tiger and shout for help. Villagers arrived just in time and the tiger ran away. The villagers took them to the primary health care centre for first aid and then the mother and the child were shifted to the district hospital.

The family lives in Rohania village, which comes under the Mala beat of Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve in the Umaria district. The District Collector Sanjeev Shrivastava met the woman and promised all the possible help.
