‘Brazen disregard for Hindu sentiments…’: Amit Malviya alleges CM Mamata Banerjee for Howrah’s violence

BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya accused her of politicising the issue and not taking control of the situation.

New Delhi: Violence broke out in West Bengal’s Howrah amid Ram Navami celebrations as vehicles were set on fire and reportedly stones were pelted. Amid the ruckus, BJP is blaming West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for it. BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya accused her of politicising the issue and not taking control of the situation.

Amit Malviya said that CM Mamata Banerjee is directly responsible for the violence. He added that when the Ram Navami processions were taken out, she was on a two-day Dharna, while she should’ve looked after Police management. He accused her of doing politics on the issue.

Malviya also tweeted a video of the ruckus in Howrah and called it a disregard for Hindu sentiments. He also targeted the Chief Minister for her speech where she allegedly asked Hindus to avoid Muslim areas for Ram Navami processions. Malviya wrote that Mamata Banerjee held a dharna and warned Hindus about avoiding Muslim areas due to Ramzan, forgetting that Hindus were also fasting for Navratri. He held her directly responsible for Howrah’s violence as she is also the Home Minister of the state.

As the violence broke out, police had to use ear gas shells to disperse the mob. A few police vehicles were also reportedly damaged in the ruckus.

CM Mamata Banerjee is on a two-day sit-in protest in Kolkata against the policies of the BJP government in the Centre. She said that people involved in violence will not be spared and also alleged BJP workers for the ruckus in Howrah.
