Bulldozers roll in Prayagraj & Kanpur, areas where stone-pelting took place

New Delhi: A day after several districts of Uttar Pradesh saw unrest over violent demonstations & stone-pelting in Prayagraj, in particular, the bulldozers rolled on the streets on Saturday to ‘penalise’ the miscreants. The bulldozers have reached the same spot where stone pelters created havoc in Prayagraj and reportedly chased some policemen.

According to sources, the trouble mongers are being identified and their illegal properties will be demolished after identification.

Bulldozers raze property of riots mastermind’s close aide

Cracking down on the masterminds of orchestrated violece in Kanpur, the state administration today sent bulldozers in Kanpur too, where stone pelters ran amok on June 3.

The illegal properties of a close aide of the mastermind Zafar Hayat Hashmi was demolished by the bulldozers today. Zafar Hayat Hashmi is a local Muslim leader who reportedly fanned the riots by circulating incendiary & inflammatory posts via WhatsApp groups. He is currently under police custody and his social media posts are being probed to nab more culprits.

Kanpur saw violent clashes & stone-pelting in Kanpur on June 3 as a Muslim mob unleashed mayhem on the streets and hurled stones at police. The riots broke out after a Muslim organisation called for shut down of shops to protest derogatory remarks on Prophet. When the group forcibly tried to shut down the shutters, it resulted into a fight between two groups.

An eight-member SIT team led by DCP Sanjeev Tyagi is probing the matter.

3 Samajwadi Party (MLA) are also under the scanner of police as they were reportedly part of WhatsApp groups that instigated riots. They alleged partisan behavior of UP police in rounding up the accused, a charge UP police denied outrightly.

UP MLC and BJP leader Mohsin Raza claimed that the clashes were pre-planned.
