New Delhi: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday arrested three men including a relative of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA for allegedly seeking bribe for allotting a ticket for the Delhi Municipal elections slated for next month.

AAP MLA Akhilesh Pati Tripathi’s relative & two others have been held by the ACB team for taking lakhs of cash from a party worker on pretext of providing a poll ticket. Reports suggest that more than Rs 33 cash has also been recovered in the raids.

According to reports, AAP MLA’s brother in law Om Singh and 2 associates had taken Rs 90 lakh from a party worker in lieu of AAP ticket for contesting civic body polls.

ACB officials claim to have audio and video proof of the money exchanging hands for an AAP ticket for civic body polls.

The matter came to light after the worker who was promised ticket failed to get one. The ACB officials caught MLA’s brother-in-law Om Singh & his personal assistant Vishal Pandey & one accomplice named Prince Raghuvanshi returning about Rs 35 lakh cash to the complainant.

The complainant had written to Additional CP, informing that he and his wife had reached out to Akhilesh Tripathi’s office for getting ticket. We were promised ticket from the ward 69 (Kamla Nagar) in name of my wife but told to pay Rs 90 lakh for the same.

Following the complaint, the ACB laid a trap at complainant’s residence and caught the three men on intervening night of Nov 15-16 while they were returning Rs 35 lakh bribe money.

MCD polls arrest MCD polls arrestWith AAP MLA being dragged in bribe row, the BJP has launched scathing attack on Kejriwal government and accused it of selling MCD tickets.

The political bickering is set to snowfall further over alleged bribe taking in MCD elections. AAP has called for ‘unbiased investigation’ and strict action against those who tried to abuse their position for money.
