Chandigarh University videos leaked: No attempt to suicide reported, says SSP Mohali Vivek Soni (VIDEO)

Meanwhile, the accused have been taken to custody and she has confessed confessed to having done this when cornered by other girls and the hostel authorities.

New Delhi: SSP Mohali Vivek Soni on Sunday said the huge protest erupted after video which was being shot by a girl student was circulated and leaked online.

He said no deaths have been reported in this matter. Also, as per medical records, no attempt (to commit suicide) is reported.

He also said that forensic evidence is being collected.

He also appealed to the students to not pay attention to the rumours.

Manisha Gulati, Chairperson, Punjab State Women Commission on Chandigarh University (CU) said this matter is serious and an investigation is underway.

She assured that parents of all students that the accused won’t be spared.

Union minister & BJP leader Som Parkash called the incident unfortunate. He said serious action will be taken against those involved in this incident so that such incidents do not occur again.

This comes after videos of  around 60 videos of women students were leaked online.

On Saturday, massive protests were held by Chandigarh University students in Mohali after the ‘objectionable videos’ of women students went viral on social media.

According to reports, protesting students have alleged that a student made videos of girl students while taking a bath in the hostel. The protesting students also claimed that after the videos went viral, girl students living in the hostel attempted suicide.
