Choksi presented himself as Raj, gifted me rings & bracelets: ‘Girlfriend’ Barbara Jarabica speaks out

New Delhi: After fugitive businessman Mehul Choksi’s lawyers filed a complaint over his alleged kidnapping, with his ‘girlfriend’ Barbara Jarabica playing a pivotal role, the latter has come out in the open and spoken about diamontaire’s lavish ways to woo her.

Choksi was arrested in the neighbouring Dominica on May 25 for illegally entering the country.

In an an exclusive conversation with India Today, Jarabica said Mehul Choksi approached her last year, when she visited Antigua and introduced himself as “Raj”.

“He became friendly and later started flirting. He also gifted me diamond rings and bracelets that turned out to be fake,” Barbara Jarabica told the TV channel.

Choksi’s lawyer and family have claimed that Choksi was abducted after he was honey-trapped by a Bulgarian woman named Barbara Jarabica.

Rejects honey-trapping Choksi claim

Barbara rejected claims of her being a part of the ploy to nab Choksi. She said Mehul Choksi’s lawyers are trying to frame & implicate me in a false case.

According to Choksi’s wife, Jarabica is not an Antiguan citizen but visited on and off and in an apartment, just opposite to that of Choksis. She introduced herself as a property renovation expert. However, Choksi’s arrest, the mystery girl has vanished.

Earlier in a letter to Antigua Police, Mehul Choksi had claimed that he was abducted from Barbara Jarabica’s home and taken to Dominica on a boat.

Choksi, the man behind the Rs 13,500-crore scam in Punjab National Bank, had fled to the Caribbean islands of Antigua and Barbuda after the scam was reported in media.
