CM needs to explain ‘art’ of converting Rs 17 L into Rs 1400 cr scam: L-G’s fierce counter to AAP’s charges

Taking umbrage at Rs 1400 crore scam allegations by AAP leaders, Delhi L-G VK Saxena said that the Chief Minister must explain ‘his art’ of converting Rs 17 lakh, as admitted on paper, into multi-crore corruption charge.

New Delhi: Amid the ongoing face-off between Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government and L-G VK Saxena over alleged corruption & lapses in Delhi’s liquor policy, the latter today slammed the Kejriwal government for not replying to the ‘genuine’ charges and rather indulging in ‘smear campaign’ to save its skin.

Taking umbrage at Rs 1400 crore scam allegations by AAP leaders, Delhi L-G VK Saxena hit out at Kejriwal government and said that the Chief Minister must explain ‘his art’ of converting Rs 17 lakh, as admitted on paper, into multi-crore corruption charge.

“As public representative, CM Kejriwal needs to explain to people ‘his art’ of converting Rs 17 lakhs, ascertained by CBI as demonetised currency exchanged by 2 employees of Khadi Bhawan Delhi, into Rs 1400 Cr as claimed by AAP”LG tweeted.

After the CBI sleuths raided Delhi Deputy CM’s residence last week and recorded him as prime accused in liquor policy scam, the AAP leaders turned the tables by leveling Rs 1400 crore charge on Delhi LG, as it was the latter who recommended probe into Delhi’s excise policy.

AAP leaders are alleging that LG VK Saxena, during his stint as Chairman of Khadi and Village Industries Commission, converted banned currency notes to the tune of Rs 1,400 crore during demonetization.

The LG, taking to twitter, also rued that many complaints were raised against incumbent state government but the latter chose to ‘get personal’ and sought to defend the indefensible and engage in ‘vicious’ attacks on him. A day ago, the LG has warned of legal action against some AAP leaders for propagating ‘fake’ corruption charges against him.

The LG also noted down series of questions on which the reply of Kejriwal government is still awaited.

1. Grave anomalies in Excise Policy later withdrawn by the Cabinet headed by CM Kejriwal

2. Inordinate delay of 2.5 years in acting on CVC report on irregularities in construction of Classrooms in Delhi Govt Schools

3. Files not being signed by CM Kejriwal

4. CAG audits not being conducted timely in State Universities

5. Cabinet notes reaching me after Cabinet meetings, and

6. Non availability of water in Foreign Missions, among others.
