Cops arrest Ajmer Dargah’s Khadim for beheading remark on Nupur Sharma

“I swear by my children, I would have shot her and even today I say, whoever brings Nupur Sharma’s head, I will give him my house,” Salman Chishti said in the video.

New Delhi: Salman Chishti, the Khadim of Ajmer Dargah was arrested by Ajmer Police on Tuesday night for allegedly making highly provocative remarks against suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma.

The Khadim, in a video, made an incendiary appeal to the community members to behead Nupur Sharma, whose  remarks on Prophet Muhammed triggered wave of protests. He said that he will give his house to anyone who decapitates Nupur and bring her head to him.

“I swear by my children, I would have shot her and even today I say, whoever brings Nupur Sharma’s head, I will give him my house,” Salman Chishti said in the video.

In the video that went viral, he was heard saying that he would shot her dead for insulting Prophet Muhammad.
After his video went viral, it created huge uproar on the social media with people calling for prompt & strict action against the cleric.

In fact, this is not the first instance of Chisti being booked for alleged offence. He has been a history-sheeter and has several cases lodged against him.

Ajmer - Nupur Sharma

In over 2 minute video clip, the Khadim is clearly seen inciting religious sentiments and provoking others to kill Nupur Sharma. The inflammatory video is similar to the Udaipur butchers Riyaz Mohammed & Ghaus Mohammed, who recorded a video before murdering Kanhaiya for extending support to Nupur.

Police said that Chisti recorded the video while being in inebriated condition.

“Prima facie, he made the video in an inebriated condition. He is being interrogated further,” Ajmer Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Vikas Sangwan said.

The Ajmer Dargah clerics have denounced the highly provocative remarks of Khadim.

“The views expressed by the ‘khadim’ in the video cannot be considered a message from the dargah,” Ajmer Dargah Dewan Zainul Abedin Ali Khan said.

Days ago, 4 people were put behind bars for allegedly making provocative speeches outside the main gate of shrine.
