Former chairman of Tata Sons Cyrus Mistry killed in road accident near Mumbai

New Delhi: Cyrus Mistry died in road accident in Palghar said Reports on Sunday. It is said that the tragic incident took place when the car that he was travelling in was hit on the divider near Mumbai. He was 54.

Former chairman of Tata Sons Cyrus Mistry  was on his way to Mumbai from Ahmedabad. He was travelling in a Mercedes.

According to media reports, it is said four people were travelling in the car, two died on the spot , two has been rushed to a local hospital.

The industrialist succumbed to the injuries on the spot.

Cyrus Mistry died in a car crash at around 3pm in Maharashtra’s Palghar area.

Condolence message started pouring in as soon as the news about his tragic death was reported.

Who was Cyrus Mistry?

Cyrus Mistry, was the sixth chairman of Tata Sons, was removed from the position in October 2016. It was in December 2012, that he had  taken over as the chairman after Ratan Tata announced his retirement. Later, N Chandrasekaran took over as Executive Chairman of Tata Sons.

In May, Supreme Court had had dismissed a plea of the Sapoorji Pallonji (SP) group seeking a review of the 2021 verdict which had upheld the Tata group’s decision to remove Cyrus Mistry as the executive chairman of the Tata Sons.
