Delhi CM skipping NDMC meetings? Documents surface showing his absence

The next meeting of NDMC Council is scheduled on May 25. All eyes will be on the Delhi CM to see whether he attends the meet and uses official forum for opposing the drives rather than opposing the clean-up exercise via media.

New Delhi: While the anti-encroachment drive by Delhi civic authorities led to unrest & provoked protest in some parts of the capital, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal called a meeting of its city legislators for ‘planned opposition’ to the demolition drive run by BJP-led Municipal Corporation (MCD).

AAP MLA Amanatullah and his aides were also booked for provoking people to create stir on streets. He was charged for rioting & obstructing public servants from doing their duty.

While Delhi CM has resorted to protest politics against the removal of illegal encroachments, it has come to light that he has been conspicuously absent in many of the NDMC Council meetings, recently held for planning such & other civic exercises to clean up the city.

The next meeting of NDMC Council is scheduled on May 25. All eyes will be on the Delhi CM to see whether he attends the meet and uses official forum for opposing the drives rather than opposing the clean-up exercise via media.

Rival parties see this ‘orchestrated protest’ by Delhi CM as merely playing to the gallery and not standing up for people’s cause.

A couple of documents have surfaced which show Arvind Kejriwal skipping the NDMC Council on many occasions.

Records show that a special meeting of NDMC Council was held on 31/08/2021.

Most of the members including Meenakshi Lekhi, Satish Upadhyay were present in meet but Delhi CM, despite being one of the most important dignitary, remained absent. Though a couple of others like Govind Mohan, Mrs Manish Saxena also skipped the meeting.

Next meeting took place on 7/1/2022 and 23/02/2022 but again the Delhi CM didn’t come for NDMC meet.

Latest NDMC council meet took place on March 30, 2022. Again most of the members marked their presence barring Delhi Chief Minister.
