New Delhi: Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia and cabinet minister Satyendar Jain resigned from their posts in the state cabinet amid the arrests in the Delhi Excise Policy Case. CM Arvind Kejriwal has accepted their resignation.
While Aam Aadmi Party and CM Kejriwal have been opposing the arrests of Sisodia and Jain, resignations at this stage have raised many questions.
Before his resignation, Supreme Court denied to entertain the case of Manish Sisodia’s arrest and suggested seeking a remedy from Delhi High Court. The party also announced that they will be going to Delhi HC for a bail plea and surprisingly the news of resignation surfaced on the political circuit.

Manish Sisodia was arrested on February 26 by CBI after eight hours of questioning in the case alleging the formulation and execution of the now-scrapped liquor policy in Delhi. The court ordered him to be in CBI’s remand for further questioning till March 4. His resignation means many important ministries, including education, are now vacant.
On the other hand, Satyendar Jain was arrested last year by ED in a money laundering case. He is also being questioned in the Excise Policy Case. The national capital also witnessed a lot of politics around the MCD elections over his videos from the Tihar Jail.
Delhi is witnessing protests by AAP workers over Manish Sisodia’s arrest as the party alleges that the Centre is misusing its agencies.
