Delhi LG sends back over 45 ‘unsigned’ files, didn’t have CM Kejriwal’s signature

All these files were reportedly not signed by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Most of these files are believed to be from Education Department, headed by Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia.

New Delhi: Amid the bitterness over ‘unsigned’ files, the Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena on Saturday returned more than 45 files to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), setting the stage for fresh escalation in the LG-CM tussle.

All these files were reportedly not signed by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Most of these files are believed to be from Education Department, headed by Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia while others pertain to Waqf Board & other departments.

With the LG VK Saxena drawing the red line over ‘unsigned’ files, the AAP government finds itself on the backfoot and is expected to launch verbal jibes at the former.

AAP leadership is already facing the CBI heat over corruption charges in Delhi’s excise policy, resulting in monetary benefits to private liquor licencees. Manish Sisodia is at the centre of controversy as the Excise department under his command offered ‘sweeteners’ to private licencees and led to huge losses to the state exchequer.

LG flagged unsigned files, wrote to Kejriwal

Delhi LG - VK Saxena - KejriwalLast week only, LG VK Saxena wrote to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and brought his attention to the government files being sent to LG office without the signature of Chief Minister. In the no-nonsense letter, the LG underlined the fact that the files were being signed by some staff in the CMO and also urged CM Kejriwal that all files have his signature before being sent to LG office.

In his letter, the LG said that the CMO has been sending proposals signed by officials with remarks that they have been “seen & approved” by the CM.

LG’s revelation about the ‘slack’ conduct of Delhi government also earned flak and ridicule for the latter, on social media. Many claimed that this was gross disregard & violation of laid down procedures.
