New Delhi: Delhi, on Friday (12 January 2024) saw its coldest day of this winter season as the temperature dropped to a chilling low of 3.9 degrees Celsius, much below the seasonal average as per the weather department.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) informed that today marks the lowest-ever recorded minimum temperature in the national capital in the last five years.
As per the city’s premier weather station Palam Observatory, Delhi also witnessed heavy & dense fog cover during the dawn time that caused zero visibility in the city’s several parts including the Indira Gandhi Airport Terminal (IGI) & Palam Airport area.
This led to the Delhi Airport authorities issuing an advisory for the passengers, requesting them to stay in touch with their respective airlines & be up to date about the weather conditions before heading for the IGI airport.
Delhi’s Coldest Day Triggers Meme Fest on Social Media
Although the unforgiving weather conditions, fortunately, did not lead to the cancellation or any major delay or significant delay on the flights, it did trigger a meme fest on Twitter (formerly X), with Delhities making hilarious jokes about the city’s chilling temperature, comparing the same with the temperature of other cities.
