New Delhi: A recent set of bridal collections by ace designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee has stirred a major debate on the social media, owing to latter’s presentation of dresses & models in a distasteful & unpleasant manner.

The fashion designer is usually known & acclaimed for his phenomenal & tremendous designs & collections not just domestically but also internationally but this time, he has found himself in the crosshairs of netizens over awful looks of models as well as his bridal collections.

Prima facie, the models in his new bridal collections are adorned in somber look and look more in mournful than celebratory mood.

The pictures of his latest photoshoot of a bridal campaign has not gone down well with majority of netiznes and they are pulling no punches in ‘pulling up’ the designer. Many of the netizens called out the ace designer for his mournful bridal collection & photoshoot.

Many users derided & mocked the designer over offending ad campaign featuring bridal collections. One said, “Great to see #sabyasachi come out with a fashion line for mourning,” while other said, “I say even mannequins would do a better job. These look like Egyptian mummies resurrected from the dead.”

A couple of users likened the photoshoot to some funeral and asked, ‘koi mar gaya hai kya.’

How the controversy erupted

Some days ago, Sabyasachi took to his official instagram and posted pictures from his ‘HERITAGE BRIDAL 2023’ collection. The designer, usually hailed & lauded for his gorgeous collections got pummeled & trolled this time. The reason behind is expression of models in photoshoot and also their grim posture.

A couple of social media users called out the designer for making the bridal photoshoot look like a ‘funeral’ while others questioned the reason behind unhappy faces of models featuring bridal collections.

Also, the models not wearing bindi also became points of criticism by netizens. Fashion enthusiasts as well as commoners slammed the designer for mocking the Hindu tradition and making it look macabre, what is otherwise a jovial affair.

Some voices of approval

Despite barrage of criticism, the designer also found some supporting comments. One of the users cited the viral dialogue to heap praise, “Looking like a wow.”

An Insta user wrote, “So beautiful..so elegant ..just looking like a wow while other wrote, “Work of art!.
