‘During Congress rule, Air India…’: PM Modi slams Congress for airline’s failure, assures of ‘Make in India’ aircraft in Shivamogga

He added that during the Congres rule, the airline was known for scams and as a loss-incurring business.

New Delhi: Addressing the public meeting in Shivamogga, Karnataka, PM Modi inaugurated the new airport and shared his views on Air India. The PM also slammed Congress for the failure of the airlines when it was under the government’s control. He said that before 2014, Air India was discussed in a negative light.

PM Modi said that before 2014, Air India was often used to be in negative news. He added that during the Congres rule, the airline was known for scams and as a loss-incurring business.

The PM said that today, Air India is taking a ‘new flight’ and is presenting India’s new capability before the world.

Sharing his views on the import of aircraft, hinting towards the massive deal between Air India and Airbus, PM Modi said that in the coming time, India will need thousands of aircraft. He added that currently, we might be importing these aircraft from abroad but the people of India will travel in ‘Make in India’ passenger aircraft soon.

PM lauded the UDAN scheme and added that Shivamogga airport will also now contribute to it.

Addressing the public, the PM also wished BS Yediyurappa on his birthday and lauded his speech in the Karnataka Assembly. He even asked the public to switch on their mobile flashlights for Yediyurappa.

Using BJP’s latest election formula, PM Modi mentioned a ‘double engine’ for Karnataka’s rural, tier 2, and tier 3 city development.

PM Narendra Modi also launched various connectivity and water security projects in the state.
