New Delhi: Setting a way for a better future for drone delivery service in India, a Gurugram-based drone startup TechEagle successfully delivered a parcel in Gujarat. The pilot was completed in collaboration with India post. The flight was completed in 30 minutes, covering 46 km in one go.

Delivery time reduced by 5 times

The project was carried out in the Kutch region of Gujarat. After the successful flight, the company said in its statement that the flight was five times faster than the speed of surface transportation. However, the wind speed was recorded at 30 kph.

The company has placed itself on the list of companies that have completed the longest single delivery flights in the country.

In May, the company also unveiled a hybrid-electric vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) drone called ‘VertiplanceX3’. It has a capacity of carrying a payload of 3 kg and a range of 100 km. It comes with a speed of 120 kph.

It is said to be capable of vertically landing from a small area of 5mx5m like a helicopter.

Talking about the project, Anshu Abhishek, co-founder at TechEagle, we launched the project with an aim of providing drone delivery service across the country, be it in urban cities or any village.

Other drone delivery trials in India

Swiggy, a Bengaluru-based logistics and delivery platform, is also testing drones on a trial basis to deliver groceries to people. The trial started last month and it will be conducted in two phases. Notably, TechEagle is also one of the trail partners.

Besides, state governments have also partnered with companies to conduct trials for delivering vaccines and medicines through drones.
