Nipun Agarwal, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (City), asserted that the video surfaced on Tuesday, compelling them to address the incident promptly. In response, Rajora has been suspended pending a thorough inquiry, and the appropriate actions will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.

New Delhi: The Ghaziabad Police finds itself in the midst of controversy as it initiates a suo motu First Information Report (FIR) against one of its constables following a disturbing incident that transpired in the city’s Karpuripuram locality on Independence Day. The incident came to light after a video of the alleged assault went viral across various social media platforms, prompting authorities to take swift action.

The video in question portrays a uniformed police officer delivering severe blows to an unidentified civilian, including slapping, punching, and kicking, culminating in the individual collapsing to the ground. Shockingly, the victim fell unconscious while bystanders appeared hesitant to intervene and restrain the officer. Subsequent investigation led to the identification of the constable as Rinku Singh Rajora, currently stationed at the Madhuban Bapudham police station.

Notably, the victim of the assault has yet to approach the police with a formal complaint, thus prompting the authorities to take proactive measures in the form of registering the FIR.

It is essential to underline that the authenticity of the video remains unverified by credible sources at this time.

The FIR lodged against Rinku Singh Rajora is grounded in sections 323 (pertaining to voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (related to criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The complaint was filed by Ashok Kumar, a sub-inspector stationed at the Kavi Nagar police station, thereby solidifying the legal action against the accused officer.
