New Delhi: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman drew praise & appreciation from netizens at the weekend for her special gesture at an event in Mumbai. The Minister stood up from her seat and offered a bottle of water to the Managing Director of National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) Padmaja Chunduru.
The event was held on Saturday to celebrate the silver jubilee of NSDL. As the video landed on social media, it drew wide appreciation on the social media.
While giving speech, NSDL MD paused for a bit and asked the hotel staff for water. However, she chose not to take a break and continued with her speech. In the meanwhile, Nirmala Sitharaman got up from her seat and offered her a bottle of water.

Overwhelmed by the gesture, Padmaja Chunduru thanked the Finance Minister while the crowd also applauded the latter. When the video landed on social media, barrage of reactions followed appreciating the Finance Minister for sweet gesture.
Many saluted the Minister for dropping the VIP culture and breaking the protocol to serve water to fellow panellist.
Reacting to the Video, Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan took to his Twitter and said, “This graceful gesture by FM Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman reflects her large-heartedness, humility and core values. A heartwarming video on the internet today.”
At the event, Finance Minister launched NSDL’s ‘Market Ka Eklavya’ investor awareness campaign for students in Hindi and other regional languages. A postage stamp was also released to commemorate the 25-year journey of NSDL.
