New Delhi: To curb the spread of Covid-19, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has issued an order stating that the Delhi government employees will not be allowed to enter office if unvaccinated from October 16. Besides, their absence from duty will be counted as “on leave.”

The government employees include teachers and frontline workers have to receive the first doze of the Covid-19 vaccine by October 15, to attend their respective offices.

“All government employees working in departments, autonomous bodies, PSUs (Public Sector Undertakings), local bodies, and educational institutions under the government of NCT (National Capital Territory) of Delhi, including front line workers, health workers, as well as teachers and other staff, working in schools and colleges, should get vaccinated (at least first dose) by 15.10.2021 as per prevailing guidelines and protocols prescribed for vaccination by the Union government,” the order read.

The employees, “who do not get vaccinated (at least first dose) by October 15 shall not be allowed to attend their respective offices/healthcare institutions /educational institutions with effect from October 16 till they have obtained the first dose vaccine.”

Further, the order states that the vaccination status can be verified through the Aarogya Setu app or vaccination certificate by the respective heads of departments.

The order signed by Delhi Chief Secretary Vijay Dev stated that the restriction may also imply to Centre employees.

The order said, the central government “may consider issuing similar directions in respect of its employees working in Delhi.”

Delhi on Friday, Delhi recorded 44 Covid-19 cases and zero deaths. The positivity rate was at 0.07%.
